''From the moment I heard about 'The Trail of Painted Ponies,' ideas for designs began to flow. At my studio on the ranch, I envisioned a horse wearing a cowboy hat, painted on jeans, and color-coordinated boots. A dancing horse ready for a night on the town. The bandana was added at the last moment for balance and color. Upon completion, I stepped back to take a look. At that moment, it so happened my favorite country station played a song by Brooks and Dunn. So I cranked up the volume, and Boot Scooter and I danced to 'The Boot Scootin' Boogie.''' He served as Artistic Director of this Pony, assembling a team of some 50 people, ranging in age from 5 to 81, from a New Mexico village. First, they trooped out to local riverbeds and dumps that had not been used for twenty years to gather glass bottles and ceramic jugs.
